Discover the Area That I Serve
Anne Arundel County offers a diversity of environments and opportunities for business and recreation that will astound those just discovering this remarkable area.
Our unique location near Annapolis, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore provides for incredible diversity and convenience to culture, arts and business, while great recreational resources offer a wonderful quality of life. A typical commute to Washington D.C. or Baltimore from the waterfront in Anne Arundel County range from 30 to 50 minutes.
You don't have to like boats or wildlife to enjoy living here, but it helps! Anne Arundel County's shape is virtually defined by water, with it's western boundary a portion of the long reach of the Patuxent River and It's eastern limit halfway across Chesapeake Bay. The shoreline follows Creeks, Rivers & Bays named Herring, Rockhold, Tracys, West, Rhode, South, Severn, Magothy, Rock, Stony and many others.
Great Blue Herons, Osprey, Egrets and Bald Eagles stalk the creeks and rivers while countless Canada Geese, swans and ducks migrate here for the winter months. Fishing is excellent, but local knowledge is essential. Chartering is the best way to go at first, so you can tap the many years of experience of the local captains, until you learn the way of the Chesapeake. Striped bass (rockfish), white perch, spot, sea trout, croakers and bluefish are the main game fish.
Not surprisingly, Anne Arundel County is one of the major recreational boating centers on the East Coast! By sail or power, some of the finest historic and scenic places in the region are within easy cruising range. Among the popular destinations is St. Michaels, known for its colonial and Victorian architecture, sheltered harbor, fine restaurants and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Nearby Oxford is a quaint, picturesque village, its ferry still operating today (it can take 2 cars across the wide Tred Avon River each trip along with several bicyclists). The Robert Morris Inn is Oxford's most famous attraction and the Tred Avon Yacht Club sponsors many sailing events throughout the season.
After Washington, D.C., Colonial Annapolis is our major tourism center. Steeped in history and home of the U.S. Naval Academy & our State and County governments, it has also been called the sailing capitol of the United States (Newport, R.I. take note!). Annapolis hosts the separate United States Power Boat and Sail Boat Shows annually! Although Annapolis feels more like a small town than a city, it provides the nightlife and sophistication found in much larger urban areas!
The heart of my service area is from Severna Park (8 miles north of Annapolis) to Chesapeake Beach (about 20 miles south of Annapolis in Calvert Co.) and includes Galesville, Shady Side, West River, Deale, Churchton, Harwood, Lothian, Edgewater and Davidsonville. As mentioned, the northern part of my area is sophisticated & more urban, while the southern part is slower paced & includes quite a lot of rolling farmland. Waterfront properties are a major attraction here and much of my work is with waterfront homes!
